Happily Boring Performance Week
USPS delivery performance bounced back to “OK” after a kind of terrible weather-driven performance the week before. It’s a holiday report, so we’re grateful for dull.
First-Class letters were delivered on time 93.23% of the time using current standards (81.66% against last year’s standards, generating a big sigh of relief after last week’s performance). First-Class flats were way, way better, delivered on time 92.16% of the time by the October standards. By the prior standards they were delivered on time only 86.42% of the time. See? Boring. Whew!
Marketing Mail Letters kept on keeping one with 95.19% of letters delivered on time. Marketing Mail Flats were delivered on time 91.95% of the time. Same old same old.
Average Intra-SCF delivery time was 2.31 days for Marketing Mail letters, 2.28 days for Marketing Mail flats. Pretty good local handling - again.
Slowest SCFs for Intra-SCF letters, delivery week of 2/14: (10,000 pieces minimum)
- Memphis, TN: 7.43 days
- Austin, TX: 4.33 days
- Ft Myers, FL: 4.24 days
The fastest:
- Van Nuys, CA: 1.53 days
- San Diego, CA: 1.55 days
- San Jose, CA: 1.58 days
A letter-size Valentine from California to Maryland, on average, took:
· First-Class: 4.05 days
· Marketing Mail: 10.87 days
With weather delays eased, Postal service performance seems to have moved back to OK, well sort of great. As spring comes in and Omicron recedes, we hope to see a return to at least last summer’s performance. We’ll see.
