MARKETING MAIL SHOWS A SLOWING TREND, AND ATLANTA ACUALLY GETS WORSE

First-Class Mail continued its disappointing performance this week, still influenced by even worsening service is the Atlanta area.  A First-Class letter to an Atlanta address took 11.23 days to be delivered, possibly the worst we’ve seen.  The Atlanta area is well into its third month of terrible service with no signs of recovery yet.  No other SCFs are nearly as slow.

Across the country, First-Class letters, in general, were slower than the preceding week.

Marketing Mail maintained an on-time percentage above 90% but has been slowly worsening.   Intra-SCF times, service within an SCF, have gradually been slowing.  It’s a small decline but bears watching as it is a clue to the performance of SCFs across the country.  Even beyond Atlanta virtually every SCF has been delivering all classes of mail more slowly.
