US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT JUNE 24, 2024
June 24, 2024   Dave Lewis

A PECULIAR WEEK FOR SERVICE PERFORMANCE.  OVERALL, SERVICE STAYS ABOUT THE SAME.

Nothing changed much in First-Class letters, with 84.2% delivered on time, vs 83.4% last week.  Average delivery days of 3.50 is better than YTD, so that’s good.  Georgia, and specifically Atlanta continue to improve, with First-Class letters to Atlanta only taking a bit over five days to delivery, a huge improvement from a few weeks ago when it was taking more than 10 days.

We had an anomalous reading on First-Class flats, with 97% delivered on time!  This clearly was based on a too-small sample.  Enjoy the week, flats lovers – you probably won’t see this for long.

Marketing Mail delivered its usual high on-time delivery performance with letters and flats delivering on time 97.8% and 95.3% respectively.  Intra-SCF delivery times were unusually low, and problems we had been seeing in Ohio, Cleveland in particular, seemed to have resolved themselves for the week.

Overall sample size for the week was 45,909,559 which is average, with the exception of a very small quantity of First-Class flats.
